Why a manicure?

Taking care of your hands and nails is important for a neat and elegant appearance, because your hands are constantly on display. In fact, our hands are like a calling card. But maintaining your own nails at home may sometimes feel like hard work. In that case, you should let a professional take care of your nails.

What is a manicure like and what does it include?

There are different kinds of manicures. You can get a manicure with traditional nail polish or gel polish. A French manicure is a special type of its own, and that we have available only with gel polish.

Manicure with traditional nail polish

  • trimming the cuticles
  • cutting/filing the nails
  • applying nail polish
  • hand lotion

How fast does nail polish dry?

The drying of nail polish is affected by many factors. Among other things, the product used, the composition of the polish, the solvents contained in the polish and the pigment used all affect the drying of the nail polish.

In fact, the drying of nail polish is actually an evaporation process. The polish “dries” as the solvents it contains slowly evaporate from the polish.

Nail polish dries from top to bottom. The top layer of the polish may already feel fully dry after 10 minutes, but closer to the bottom, the polish may still be wet. In that case, the polish may be ruined if the nails hit anything even if the polish appears fully dry on the surface.

The more pigment the polish contains, the more slowly it usually dries. If the polish contains a lot of pigment, it becomes thick and the solvents evaporate more slowly. For this reason, an intense red polish dries much more slowly than a polish with a pearly pale colour. Very often you may find that a polish containing plenty of pigment is not fully dry even after an hour.

The drying speed of polish is always individual and polish-specific, and it cannot be predicted in advance in any way. In our manicures, we always use quick drying top coats and quick dry products, but despite all this, we still cannot guarantee that the polish will be completely dry right after the manicure.

For the reasons listed above, Beauty Center Fenix is not responsible for the nail polish after you leave the manicure. If the fresh nail polish comes into contact with anything, such as when you take your keys from your pocket or try to find your wallet in your handbag, it can easily be ruined. Gel polish naturally has no such risks.

Manicure with gel polish

  • applying gel polish
  • hand lotion

You can also have a manicure with gel nail polish, which lasts longer than a traditional nail polish. Gel polish is also instantly and completely dry after curing, which means that it will not be damaged even if the nails did hit something right after the polish is done.

French manicure

French manicure refers to a specific way of applying nail polish. In a traditional French manicure, pure white polish is applied to the tips of the nails, while the colour of the rest of the nail is nude.

Currently modern versions of the French manicure also exist, where any colour can be applied precisely on just the tip of the nail, while the rest of the nail may also be of any colour. However, in a French manicure, the colour of the tip of the nail is always different from the nail bed, and the border between colours is sharp.

We offer French manicure only with gel polish. You can also get artificial nails with a French manicure, in which case the artificial nail itself can be built in the French style with the tip in a different colour from the nail bed, or alternatively, a French tip can be applied to the nail with gel polish. Both methods produce equally beautiful and precise results.

Paraffin treatment

Paraffin treatment is based on the effect of slowly radiating low heat, and it is especially well suited for dry hands.

The deeply moisturising warm paraffin nourishes the skin, eases pain and stiffness, and moisturises the skin. The warm, relaxing paraffin also stimulates blood circulation, opens the pores and smooths out lined skin.

The end result of the treatment is soft skin that also looks healthier.

The moisturising paraffin treatment is an excellent choice for a hand treatment in the winter, and especially for balancing out the effects of disinfectants that stress the skin of your hands.

What happens in a paraffin treatment?

At the start of the treatment, the hands are exfoliated with a moisturising exfoliant so that the skin can absorb the active ingredients as effectively as possible. After this, the hands are immersed in a paraffin bath 5 times. As it congeals, the paraffin forms a “shell” on the skin, which is then covered with a protective plastic bag and a heat mitten made out of terry cloth that intensifies the effects of the treatment.

The paraffin is allowed to sit on the hands for 10–15 minutes. When application period is over, the paraffin shell is removed from the hands. After the treatment, the skin of the hands has a heavenly softness.
